Hair Loss Facts
What causes hair loss?
In both men and women the most common cause for hair loss is called androgenetic alopecia (male and female pattern baldness), a genetic condition. In androgenetic alopecia, the anagen, or growth phase of hair has for some reason been disrupted. Some causes of this disruption are build up of DHT, sebum build up, and poor circulation. In androgenetic alopecia hair begins to fall out, regrow more sparsely, and then stop regrowing all together.
Contributing factors to hair loss include nutritional deficiencies, stress, thyroid, hormone imbalances due to childbirth and menopause, medication and environmental factors.
Are you seeing more hair in the shower drain, on the floor or in your comb?
Is your hair thinning so much your can see your scalp in areas?
Is your hair much less healthy and thick than it used to be, and only getting worse?

Did you know that almost one-half of men report hair thinning and loss by their 30’s and 1 in 4 women report the same?
- Male or female pattern baldness is the most common cause for hair loss in men and women and is called androgenetic alopecia. This means that the anagen, or growth phase of the hair has been disrupted.
- Hair becomes more brittle as you age because the subcutaneous fat layer of the scalp thins.
- Hair starts to lose its youthful color and shine due to the diminishing ability of the hair to absorb melanin.
What does it all mean? Thinning, dull, dry, limp hair . Not youthful, but old looking.
